Water I’ve Loved, my graphic memoir, is serialized atMutha Magazine (since 2017). Itbrings together memories like puzzle pieces of my experiences of Mother’s bipolar disorder. I mine current feeling states for many of my childhood narratives. The stories feature bodies of water that I turned to as healers of trauma and objects of love.
I published a graphic history on Newark’s St. Benedict’s Prep School at Spiralbound. My work includes diary comics and political cartoons as the “official cartoonist” for New Jersey’s NJ 11th for Change for a number of years. I sell my comics at independent comics festivals such as The Non-Fiction Comics Fest, MICE, and PictoBeach.
I came to comics via fine arts, with a BFA from Syracuse and an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I exhibited widely in New York galleries and published art criticism.
My interest in image and text led me to The Center for Cartoon Studies summer workshops and the Graphic Novel Intensive program at Sequential Artist Workshop (SAW). I’ve led the Visual Art Department at St. Benedict’s Prep School, Newark, NJ since 2003.
